Industrial Hoists Cases

Scanclimber by Tractel's industrial hoists are used in many different industrial settings such as mines, storage silos, power plants and shipyards.

The coal power plant in Wilhelmshaven, constructed by GDF Suez, started its operations in full capacity in March 2014. This power plant achieves a net output of 731 megawatts and has the capacity to produce up to 5.5 billion kilowatt hours of electricity per year. One of this plant's unique features is that it is highly advanced and one of the cleanest and most efficient power plants in the world, as its emissions are harmless to the environment.

There already was an operational power plant owned by E.ON near the location of this new plant. The plan was to design a new highly efficient plant in order to reduce waste. The extension of the existing power plant was planned in 2008. The coal power plant started its trial operations in December 2012.

Special Features about the Project

  • The emissions from the plant are eco-friendly. It was essential to constantly monitor emissions from the chimney in order to ensure their eco-friendliness. This required access to the emission release point within the chimney.
  • The chimney’s vertical structure was built so that its angle changes. Flexible anchoring was chosen due to this structure, the mast was adapted to the bending chimney and the case was mounted in an inclined position.
  • Scanclimber's SC400K was chosen for the installation within the chimney. A drive with the velocity of 45m/min was chosen from Scanclimber's components in order to guarantee rapid transport. Scanclimber supplied and installed three-sided landing walls on each upper landing securing the hoist’s carriage up to 250 meters of height.
