The Port of Rotterdam

The Port of Rotterdam is the largest port in Europe. Being Europe’s largest port, the vast amounts of cargo are handled with harbor cranes. The harbor cranes have tall structures and are mostly controlled from their control panels. For accessing the cranes as well as doing their maintenance work two Scanclimber SC300K hoists were used in order to maximize efficiency.

The port of Le Havre is one of the largest ports in France. The Generale de Manutention Portuaire (GMP) started their operations in Europe in 1976 at the terminal in order to handle an increased volume of containers and vessels. Scanclimber assisted in accessing the port’s cranes for maintenance work by providing a SC300K Industrial Hoists.

Quay Cranes in Rotterdam, Netherlands

APM Terminals selected Cargotec as the quay crane supplier for the company’s Maasvlakte II terminal in Rotterdam. The huge cranes were equipped with Scanclimber SC400K permanent hoists to transport operators and service personnel. Cargotec ordered ten SC400K type permanent hoists from Scanclimber, each with a capacity of 400 kg, or about 4 people.
