The Onkalo nuclear waste disposal facility under construction in Olkiluoto, Finland, will be the world's first permanent geological repository for spent nuclear fuel and high-level radioactive waste. Posiva is using a Scanclimber® by Tractel® hybrid hoist-work platform SC2000 in assembly work inside the personnel shaft in Onkalo. The product was custom-built according to Posiva's requirements. The SC2000 hoist-work platform is a hybrid of a hoist and a mast climber (MCWP).
Scanclimber hoists played an important role in building the giant luxury cruiseliner, Mein Schiff 5, at Meyer shipyard in Turku. Meyer Turku is one of the leading shipyards in Europe, and part of German-based Meyer Werft. Meyer Turku specializes in building cruise ships and other passenger vessels. It has a long history in shipbuilding, dating back to 1737, when the yard in Turku started. Mayer Werf has built more than 1300 vessels over the years.
Takenaka Corp. Japan constructed a modern ceramics factory for NGK in Poland. An automated material handling system was implemented at the factory for higher productivity. Scanclimber played a part in this successful automation project.
The Electrownia Dolna Odra power plant was built in the 1970s. The plant's operation started in 1974 and it was completely operational in 1977. The power plant contains six blocks with the total production capacity of 1362 MW of electricity and 100.81 MW of thermal energy. It is a conventional power plant with blocks of open cooling systems. The plant went through a comprehensive modernization program in the 1990s for its primary energy devices.
The coal power plant in Wilhelmshaven, constructed by GDF Suez, started its operations in full capacity in March 2014. This power plant achieves a net output of 731 megawatts and has the capacity to produce up to 5.5 billion kilowatt hours of electricity per year. One of this plant's unique features is that it is highly advanced and one of the cleanest and most efficient power plants in the world, as its emissions are harmless to the environment.
